Wooler First School

Wooler First School is situated in the remote northern part of England on the edge of the beautiful Northumberland National Park. To the north lies the Scottish Border Region. To the east, lying just off our magnificent 'Heritage Coastline', is the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. The Cheviot Hills are within walking distance from the school gates. They are a haven for hillwalkers and nature lovers from all over the world. Some of our nearest towns include Alnwick (the location for the 'Harry Potter' films) and the border fortress town of Berwick-upon-Tweed.

The market town of Wooler has a population of about 2000. Wooler is an important rural hub for the local community.

Wooler First School has 179 pupils between the ages of 2 and 9yrs. Wooler First School shares facilities with Glendale Middle School and also operates a nursery and childcare provision onsite. The School follows the National Curriclum but places great emphasis on the development and well-being of the whole child.

Education is a journey and not a destination. We hope that here at Wooler we give to the children an education that they can use to the benefit of the communities in which they will eventually live.
